The week past began with Yasso’s at Central Tech field followed by our dinner meeting on Tuesday night. We had a terrific turnout. Our focus was on training, races for the remainder of the year and of course the wonderful food at the Harbord House. It was exciting to see that the group is committed to a number of races this summer and fall.
Walking the distance on Saturday meant having faith that it would not rain!(and it didn’t until we returned to High Park). We were a group of approx 10 walkers; Phyllis, Rorie, Diane, Sue, Fiona, Mary, Ela, Lorna, Susan B. and Linda.
Most walked 15k and 16k on Saturday, continuing our training for fall races. It was humid as we walked east from High Park turning at Simcoe Street. I walked further east to Bay Street, then north on Bay past the fencing for G20. Police were stopping cars as the drove west into the G20 zone, some were rerouted. I admit to strolling through this area as I was curious.
Next Saturday, to avoid the G20 gridlock, we are meeting at Lawrence and Leslie at Edwards Gardens @7am, there’s lots of parking. Anyone know of a good place near there for breakfast? Ela and a few others living on the west side of the city will also be meeting at High Park at 7am to walk.
