Spring can be icy!

The warming weather brought a really good turnout this morning but once again, treacherous, hard-to-see ice underfoot had us many of us walking cautiously.  That meant that we took several different routes, depending on our tolerance for potential slips.  “Next week,? we said to one another, “I’m going to go a longer distance.?

Personally, I’m glad we’re a cautious group.  I would not like to see any sprained ankles, let alone anything worse.  We have had a few falls this winter.  Thankfully, the injuries have been relatively minor but they have spoiled planned events.  As they used to say on Hill Street Blues, “Be careful out there.?  The seasonal melt creates pools that freeze, mirror-like, across the paths and sidewalks.

Several of us walked to a member’s moving sale and then joined the rest at breakfast.  We were still there when the hardier group arrived from their longer walk.  We were STILL there when they finished their breakfast.  No-one seemed to be in a hurry to get home.  Conversation ranged from buying bras to the best way to dispose of a body.  The things I learn!
