It’s Harry’s, it must be Spring!

Read this first!!! Remember that this Saturday we are meeting at High Park at 8:00am (yes, that is earlier than 8:30) and, if you want to get the TPW logo printed on something, bring it with you. For newcomers, we meet at the Grenadier Restaurant.

It’s Harry’s so it must be spring … and we have some training to do.

Sue, Carol, Phyllis and I enjoyed volunteering at Saturday’s first race of the season, Harry’s Spring Run-off at High Park. Terrific to see Margie in her first race. Congrats, we knew you could do it! Mary and Sherry were in fine form and Helen and family walked as a group. Well done all. (See Margie’s and Mary/Sherry’s take on the race below). Mary and Ela were also out cheering on family members. Lorna was handing out medals at the finish line.

The next race is Sporting Life (May 1) and we hope to see lots of TPW’s out for that.

To help us all get ready for whatever races we have chosen, we are planning to hold some training refreshers. We need to get some expressions of interest to help us with our planning. Here is what is proposed.

1) Barb Gormley will guide us through a program of core exercises. We will each get a chance to attend one of two classes that will be offered on consecutive Tuesdays in APRIL. Helen S. is confirming dates with Barb G. and we will ask everyone to choose the one that works best for them. Sue C. has once again kindly offered to host at her condo meeting room which can hold about 15 each night.

2) We will also be offering a three-part WOW coaching program in MAY. Mary G. has made tentative arrangements with Lee but we need your feedback to confirm. There will be room for 20 people who will be asked to commit for the entire 3-part program on Tuesday nights. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Details will be coming shortly.

Many of us will be out on Tuesday for interval training (see the sidebar for details). Time to get serious if we want to walk that distance without hurting ourselves!
