…or so it seemed to the 25 or so Toronto Power Walkers who had just hit their stride on the Lakeshore after once around High Park on Saturday morning. There really wasn’t anywhere to take shelter out there! After what seemed like forever, the rain stopped and we tried to walk even faster to get back to High Park. We were waterlogged!
This Tuesday is the second of the two Barb Gormley training tune-up sessions. It is also Interval training for those who are not participating in Barb’s class. See the sidebar for details of our training for the week. We unfortunately had to cancel the 6 week class Barb was offering due to lack of interest.
Only 3 more weeks to the Toronto Women’s Half! We will be tapering after this Saturday’s 20km walk in preparation for the event. We hope that many of our walkers are on track to participate in the event. If you cannot participate please tell us. We’re hoping for Toronto Power Walkers to be out there as walkers, volunteers or just cheering us on!
The following Tuesday, June 2nd, everyone is invited to skip Interval training and join us for our quarterly gathering , dinner at Harbord House (at 6:30pm). A link to their website is one the right. We hope that you can make it!
Good luck to Helen and Shirley who are going to Cleveland for the Marathon/Half Marathon/10k race. I heard that the medal in the past was a spinning guitar. We’ll see when they come back!
Enjoy the upcoming long weekend with family and friends. Start the weekend off right, if you’re still in town…we’ll be there (8am start), ready to ‘walk the distance’ with you, whatever your distance! Don’t forget to hydrate, bring snacks and wear sunscreen…we’ll be out there for a little while.
