Aloha from Maui

Despite a bit of a bumpy start which included Dr Sue having to cancel
and Philippa having her flight delayed a day, the Maui racers have had
an outstanding trip!  Maui is spectacularly beautiful and the weather
heavenly.  Our beachfront accommodation is perfect and is 5 minutes
from the start of the half-marathon..couldn’t be better. Weather on
race day was perfect..not too hot with a nice breeze. Despite fighting
off both a head cold and an absessed tooth, Sherry heroically got up
at 2:30 a.m to catch the bus to the start of the full marathon race at
4:30 a.m.  She finished first in her age category, amazing us all.
The half-marathoners – Lee, Philippa, Martha, Ann Louise and Mary –
set off at 6:30 a.m. on a course that was flat, beautiful and fun, and
we were all pleased with our finish times.  The half marathon crew
were pleased to discover that Spanky’s Bar, located right by the
finish line, was an oh-so-convenient place to watch for Sherry’s
triumphant finish!  All in all, a great race, followed by a lovely
sunset dinner cruise.  Lots more stories to share when (if?) we return
home…

Aloha to everyone at home!
